Amaka Igwe, Nigerian Film and Television Veteran Is Dead


Its a sad day for nollywood ad the Nigerian film industry loose one of its iconic member, Amaka Igwe. The veteran filmmaker the early hours of today Tuesday, the 29th of April 2014 while on her way to the hospital
after suffering a horrible Asthma attack.
The news of the media entrepreneur was confirmed by the president of the Actor’s Guild of Nigeria. The veteran film maker has lived with Asthma for a large part of her live. However, her condition did not stop her from doing her work and making a lot of contribution to the Nigerian media space.

Amaka Igwe is well known for producing popular Nigerian soaps such as 'Checkmate' and the 'Fuji House Of Commotion'. She is also the producer of 'Violated', a popular and iconic Nollywood movie featuring ego Boyo, Richard Mofe Damijo, Joke Silva, and a host of others. Another of her Nollywood project is 'Rattle Snake', a movie of love, crime, and evil family members. RattleSnake and Violated are two critically-acclaimed movies that separates Amaka Igwe's work from the rest and place her among some of the finest writers, producers, and dircetors in the Nigerian movie scene.

Born Amaka Isaac-Ene, the deceased has been in the Nigerian entertainment industry for over 20 years and is the founder of BoBTV Expo, founder and CEO of Top Radio 90.9FM, Amaka Igwe Studios, and the newly-launched Q Entertainment Networks.

According to reports, she was in Enugu for pre-production of an Igbo series when the unfortunate incident occurred. She is survived by 3 children, her husband, Charles Igwe - and her mother.
